WHO AND WHAT IS BLACKBIRD MUSIC? We are an independent record label, and distribution company. We believe very strongly in artist development. Our artists are the backbone of this label and any artist we sign works hand in hand with everyone here.

We believe that the music industry is shifting and that a big change is that CD's have become obsolete. WHAT? well think about it this way, what is one of the first things you do with a CD? You upload it into your iTunes or Windows Media Player or whatever you use and for most of the time that CD just sits taking up space, getting lost or worse scratched up. And on top of that CD's are not recyclable and if you think of all the millions of CD's sold every year thats a shitload of alot of un-reusable plastic sitting around. Now we know most people out there don't have turntables but vinyl LP's are a much better medium for this day and age! WHY? well let me tell you, first the vinyl can be re-used the jackets are just cardstock and are easly recycled and/or biodegradable! Also they just look great, and as far as the sound quality, vinyl pressing has come along way since the 60's and 70's and records can handle low and high end sounds better than CD's (why do you think dj's use vinyl) and they can be made at a louder volume better than CD's. Example the new Metallica CD you can hear the tracks start to break up because they were mastering higher than they should have, well for LP's that doesn't happen cause it's not a digital file being read. Ok enough boring shit.

WE ARE MAKING SOME OF OUR CATALOG AVAILABLE ON SPECIAL LIMITED EDITION COLORED VINYL LP'S. For the rest of you we are selling our entire catalog as digital downloads at lower than iTunes or whoever you use plus most of our artists have special vinyl offers where when you purchase the vinyl you will also get to download their entire catalog. Another bonus, we are also creating printable versions of the artwork for you on our myspace profile in pictures under Album Art, if you don't see a particular releases artwork send us a message and we will get it up and email it to you as soon as possible. We are sorry if going to a more digital format is a bummer to you but it's what we believe this industry needs to do to clean up it's act. And if you're like us and are a die hard collector, buy the vinyl. And if you don't have a turntable, get one cause it will open your ears to some amazing things. But don't fret most of our artists will still be doing CD's cause well we are poor ass bastards here at Blackbird Music and CD's are still the cheapest route for us to get you their music. And our artists will still be selling their CD's at their shows. So now you have to go see a concert to buy most of our artists on CD:) Thank you for all your support over the years and lets make the future years even better!
